MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in a statement made before the Ankara Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, said, "The unity of the Turkic world does not mean that any state establishes dominance over another." Emphasizing the bonds of brotherhood between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, Bahçeli stated, "No opportunity should be given for any dispute to be magnified, any conflict to turn into a permanent separation, or any seed of discord to be sown among us."

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made a written statement on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic, the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Turkic republics, and the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States to be held in Ankara. Stating that relations among Turkic states should be developed on the basis of mutual trust and respect for sovereign rights, Bahçeli called for the preservation of unity and solidarity.

“WE ARE WITNESSING ONE OF THE TURNING POINTS OF HISTORY AND DESTINY”

Referring to the celebration of the 103rd anniversary of the Republic and the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Turkic republics in the same period, Bahçeli said, “We are passing through one of the most meaningful periods of Turkic history. Together, we are witnessing one of the turning points of history and destiny.”

Pointing to the historical importance of Ankara hosting the leaders of the Turkic states, Bahçeli stated that the summit is important in terms of strengthening bonds of brotherhood and carrying common goals forward.

“UNITY IN LANGUAGE, IDEA, AND WORK”

Stating that the Turkic world has reached its current position as a result of long struggles, Bahçeli emphasized the common cultural heritage extending from Manas to Dede Korkut, from Hodja Ahmed Yasawi to Yunus Emre, and from Ismail Gasprinski to Ziya Gökalp. Reminding of Ismail Gasprinski’s understanding of “Unity in language, idea, and work,” Bahçeli noted that the Turkic states should strengthen their relations on the basis of common history and culture.

Expressing that the Organization of Turkic States strengthens this historical closeness through institutional relations, Bahçeli stated that developing economic and cultural cooperation, increasing effectiveness in the international arena, and leaving a stronger Turkic world to future generations are among the common goals.

“THE UNITY OF THE TURKIC WORLD DOES NOT MEAN ONE STATE ESTABLISHING DOMINANCE OVER ANOTHER”

Emphasizing that the unity among Turkic states should be shaped on the basis of respect for independence and sovereign rights, Bahçeli included the following statements in his statement: “I would especially like to state here that the unity of the Turkic world does not mean any state establishing dominance over another. What we desire is a unity that is strengthened on the basis of the sovereign equality of independent states, with mutual respect and the law of brotherhood, and that protects the national existence and will of each of our members.”

Stating that it is necessary to act with common sense and determination against attempts to weaken relations among Turkic states, Bahçeli pointed to the importance of preserving trust among brotherly countries.

MESSAGE TO AZERBAIJAN: NO OPPORTUNITY SHOULD BE GIVEN TO ANY SEED OF DISCORD

Specifically addressing relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, Bahçeli emphasized that the brotherhood of the two countries has a historical character beyond daily political and diplomatic developments.

Bahçeli said, “The brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is too deep-rooted to be confined within the limits of daily developments; it is too profound to be reduced to political and diplomatic matters, carrying a historical nature. Our brotherhood has been strengthened by the will of the two nations, consolidated through common struggles, and kept alive for generations.”

Stating that this sensitivity applies to all Turkic states, Bahçeli continued as follows: “No opportunity should be given for any disagreement to be magnified, any dispute to turn into a permanent separation, or any seed of discord to be sown among us.”

Bahçeli also stated that historical closeness should be kept above daily debates and that differences should not be turned into grounds for separation.

EMPHASIS ON THE 2040 VISION OF THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKIC STATES

Referring to the 2040 Vision of the Organization of Turkic States, Bahçeli stated that political coordination should be improved, economic ties strengthened, and transportation and energy lines used more effectively.

Bahçeli said, “In line with the goals of this vision, improving our political coordination, strengthening our economic ties, making our transportation and energy lines more effective, and achieving lasting gains in areas ranging from education to culture are the common responsibility of all of us.”

Stating that Türkiye’s accumulated knowledge and experience should contribute to the development of the Turkic world, Bahçeli noted that their goal is a strong Turkic world that preserves its independence and has a say in the international arena.

WISHES FOR SUCCESS FOR THE ANKARA SUMMIT

Wishing that the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of Turkic States to be held in Ankara will strengthen relations among brotherly countries, Bahçeli concluded his statement with the following words:

“May Almighty God make the unity of the Turkic world everlasting and our brotherhood enduring. May He make our states strong, our nation peaceful, our brotherhood unshakable, and the future of the Turkic world bright. How happy is the one who says, ‘I am a Turk!’”
