The driver of a truck transporting car parts from Germany to Turkey was caught by customs officials in neighboring Bulgaria with 245,000 euros that were hidden under the driver's seat and not declared.
A Turkish citizen named S.A., who wanted to cross into Turkey by coming to the Lesovo Customs Gate located on the other side of the Hamzabeyli Border Gate, was taken to the checkpoint for a detailed search by Bulgarian officials. At the customs checkpoint, the Turkish citizen driver named S.A. presented documents stating that he was transporting car parts from Germany to Turkey and said he had nothing else to declare.
245 THOUSAND EUROS UNDER THE SEAT
During the customs inspections, inspectors found Euro banknotes wrapped in paper in the driver's cabin. A total of 245 thousand Euros (9.3 million TL) was seized, which he had hidden in a factory-made cavity under the passenger seat in the passenger cabin, while an investigation related to the incident was initiated by a customs inspector under the supervision of the Yambol Regional Prosecutor's Office. -
