Banks have started charging account maintenance fees.

Before entering 2025, three major banks made a highly discussed decision. Garanti Yatırım, Yapı Kredi Yatırım, and Halk Yatırım announced that they will charge a "Account Maintenance Fee" from stock accounts. It was stated that deductions from the accounts will be made every 6 months.

THEY WILL CHARGE UP TO 800 LIRA

Accordingly, Garanti Yatırım will charge an annual fee of 500 TL, Yapı Kredi Yatırım will charge an annual fee of 790 TL, and Halk Yatırım will charge an annual fee of 390 TL for account maintenance. It is curious whether other banks will join this practice.

ACCOUNTS ARE BEING CLOSED ONE BY ONE

On the other hand, the practice of the three banks faced backlash from stock investors. Citizens have started to close their stock accounts.
