PRAYED AT AL-AQSA MOSQUE
An official from the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Administration stated that Ben-Gvir entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque accompanied by a group of Israelis who usurp Palestinian lands and under the protection of Israeli police.
In images spread on social media, Ben-Gvir was seen praying in the eastern section of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Israeli minister had previously carried out raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque many times. Ben-Gvir usually conducts these visits without prior notice and under heavy police protection.
ITS STATUS IS A MATTER OF CONTROVERSY
The Al-Aqsa Mosque is under the auspices of the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Administration, affiliated with the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites, within the framework of the peace agreement signed between Israel and Jordan on October 26, 1994.
Despite this, Jews have been entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque under police protection since 2003, following Israel's unilateral decision.
While the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf Administration describes these incursions as "raids," it emphasizes that such practices violate Muslims' sovereignty over the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
