As part of the operation targeting the Beykoz Municipality, a new arrest warrant has been issued for Alaattin Köseler, who was arrested and granted release yesterday. Köseler has been taken into custody and sent to prison.
The case of 5 defendants, including the suspended Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler, who are being tried for "manipulating a tender" and "establishing, membership, and aiding an organization for the purpose of committing a crime," resulted in Köseler being re-arrested after the prosecution's objection to the release decision.
The Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office objected to the decision made on Thursday, September 4, at the Istanbul Anadolu 17th High Criminal Court, regarding the release of Alaattin Köseler, Veli Gümüş, Serdar Karahan, Havva Dindar, and Uğur İnci under judicial control in the form of a "travel ban," as well as the rejection of the request for the arrest of the non-detained defendant Yıldız Güneş.
REQUEST FOR RE-ARREST
In the objection, despite the prosecutor presenting an opinion for the continuation of the detention of the defendants, it was argued that the release decision for the 5 defendants, including Köseler, was contrary to procedure and law due to the nature and characteristics of the alleged crime, the evidence in the file not being fully collected yet, and the inadequacy of the judicial control decision. Therefore, a request was made for the issuance of a warrant for the arrest of the defendants.
ARREST WARRANT ISSUED
The Anadolu 17th High Criminal Court, which evaluated the request, stated that the release decisions were in accordance with procedure and law, ruling that there was no need to change the decision. The court sent the case file to the higher court, Anadolu 18th High Criminal Court, for evaluation of the decision and the objection.
The higher court, evaluating the decision, accepted the objection and ruled for the issuance of an arrest warrant for the defendants, including Köseler.
DECISION FOR ARREST
Subsequently, Köseler and Veli Gümüş, who were re-arrested by the Istanbul Police Department teams, were brought to the Anadolu Courthouse. Among those detained was the non-detained defendant Yıldız Güneş. Here, Köseler appeared before the judge at the Anadolu 18th High Criminal Court and was arrested after his defense.
