In the Yıldırım district of Bursa, an apartment building where many animals are alleged to be kept in poor conditions has also come to the fore due to claims of a flea infestation in the neighborhood. While local residents allege that the recent increase in fleas in the area stems from animals kept in unsuitable conditions in the apartment, they noted that the heavy odor spreading from the home and the poor conditions are also adversely affecting the surrounding area.

Horrific images emerged from a house in the Yıldırım district of Bursa, where animals were allegedly kept in terrible conditions. While local residents claimed they heard the screams and cries of animals from the house at night, they alleged that the animals inside were essentially fighting for survival due to hunger, thirst, heavy odor, and neglect. The images showed dogs that had perished and animals kept in severe conditions.

HELD MANY ANIMALS CAPTIVE

In the 3-story apartment building located on Yıldız Street, Anadolu Neighborhood, Yıldırım district, it was reported that local residents had long been complaining about N.Ş., who allegedly kept animals there. Numerous cats, dogs, chickens, and birds were found in poor conditions in the apartment.

Following complaints from local residents, municipal teams came to the apartment. It was reported that 15 chickens, 1 cat, and 2 dogs were removed from inside, and one of the dogs was dead. However, citizens stated that there were previously about 6 dogs and around 20 cats inside, and over time the animals had disappeared or perished.

Local residents, who claimed the situation inside the apartment was extremely severe, said that upon entering, there was a strong and unbearable odor. According to the citizens' claims, even municipal teams entered wearing masks and protective suits.

Local residents, stating that the animals inside were in a miserable state due to hunger, thirst, and neglect, noted that especially the dogs showed severe hair loss and various health problems. One resident, Mehmet Bulut, claimed the animals had been kept in poor conditions for years, saying, "We are not saying don't keep animals. We are not enemies of animals. But keep them clean, keep them meticulously, take care of them. You can't keep animals by locking them inside, locking the doors, dividing the place like a cellar, and throwing them in."

"WE HEAR THE ANIMALS' SCREAMS AT NIGHT"

Bulut, stating that there were also images of the moments when animals perished, claimed that dead animals were thrown into trash bins and containers. Bulut said, "We hear the screams of those cats and dogs as they are thrown into the trash and containers. I am the neighbor across from it; I hear those cries, I know what those animals go through, the torment." Bulut, claiming that some animals perished due to hunger and thirst, said, "All the pieces in the trash were worm-infested and filthy. We couldn't get near it because of the smell. I even had to deal with the fleas from the dead animals."

Bulut, who claimed the animals were not regularly cared for, alleged that N.Ş. came to the apartment every few days, saying, "He comes every two or three days. He says 'I give them food and water,' but you don't give food and water like that. I could do that too for the animals here. I am not an enemy of animals. I'm not saying don't keep animals. But let him keep them in good conditions."

Stating that keeping animals in a closed environment, especially during the summer months, makes the situation even worse, he reacted, "While we can't stay outside in 35 degrees, how do those animals stay inside?"

"WE COMPLAINED MANY TIMES"

Local residents, claiming the problem was not new and had continued for years, said they had complained numerous times and collected signatures. Bulut emphasized that they were not against animal care and stated they wanted animals to be kept in clean, healthy, and appropriate conditions.

Local residents demanded that the situation of the animals be investigated in all aspects, that the claims regarding the perished animals be examined, and that necessary legal actions be taken against those responsible.

Meanwhile, Bulut also claimed that he and his lawyer were threatened for speaking out about the incidents.
