Mercan Valley in the Ovacık district of Tunceli witnessed nature's most relentless survival struggle. The breathtaking moments when two wolves, starving in the area, stalked and hunted a protected ibex step by step were captured second by second by a drone camera.

Tunceli, one of Turkey's richest and most pristine regions in terms of biodiversity, hosted a striking reality of wildlife. In the Mercan Valley, located in the Ovacık district and known for its steep mountainous areas and dense forest structure, the relentless chase between wolves and a wild goat was captured on camera.

THEY SEPARATED IT FROM THE HERD AND FOLLOWED IT STEP BY STEP

Two wolves living in the valley, which stands out with its rich wildlife population, targeted a wild goat with curved horns that they had their eyes on. In those moments reflected in aerial drone footage, one of the wolves is seen skillfully separating the wild goat from the herd first. The hungry wolf chased the fleeing goat for a long time over challenging and rugged rocks, making moves during the pursuit and managing to wound its prey several times on the leg.

THEY CAUGHT IT IN THE LOWLAND AND DRAGGED IT TO A ROCK CAVITY

The wild goat, trying to escape while injured and descending from the steep rocks to the lowland, could not escape the wolf's relentless pursuit. The wolf, which caught and neutralized the weakened animal in the lowland area, was soon joined by another wolf from the region. In the footage, it is clearly seen that after the first wolf subdued the prey, a second wolf quickly arrived at the scene and attacked the goat. At the end of the breathtaking images revealing the harsh law of nature, there are moments where the two wolves drag the wild goat they hunted towards a rock cavity. These images, which constitute a unique resource for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts, once again proved the functioning of the ecosystem and food chain in the Mercan Valley.
