Bülent Arınç, one of the founders of the AK Party, recounted the reaction of then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to a military commander who criticized imam hatip schools during a National Security Council (MGK) meeting years ago. Arınç said, "When he said, 'This is a reactionary nest' regarding imam hatip schools, Tayyip Bey slammed his fist on the table and said, 'Shut up.' He responded by saying, 'Imam Hatip schools are schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education, and I was raised here.'" ARINÇ'S STRIKING "ERDOĞAN" MEMORYFormer Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and one of the founders of the AK Party, Bülent Arınç, made striking statements during a program he attended. Arınç, who was a guest on Adem Metan's program, recounted the reaction of President Erdoğan to a military commander during a National Security Council meeting when he was also the Speaker of the Parliament. "HE SLAMMED THE TABLE AND SAID 'SHUT UP'"Arınç stated that Erdoğan, who was the Prime Minister at the time, reacted to the commander who spoke about imam hatip schools, saying, "I am the Speaker of the Parliament, and Tayyip Bey is the Prime Minister. I believe there was a lesson he gave to the Commander of the Air Force at an MGK meeting. I heard about it outside. When he said, 'This is a reactionary nest,' Tayyip Bey listened and slammed his fist on the table. He said, 'Shut up.' This is what I was told, and he can do that. He said, 'Enough already. You are making this enmity by targeting me. These schools are the schools of the Ministry of Education, and I was raised here.'"
