Following the chanting of slogans in favor of terrorist organization leader Öcalan in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Deputy Interior Minister Bülent Turan reacted very strongly. Turan said, "Is there not a single smart person among them? Is there no reasonable, level-headed person? Doesn’t anyone say, 'What you are doing is wrong; while you are trying to make part of the country happy, don’t you realize how this will provoke another part?'"
Recently, during the DEM Party group meeting held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), the women who marched from Diyarbakır to Ankara for "Right to Hope" drew great backlash for chanting slogans in favor of PKK leader Öcalan. The incident sparked a new debate in politics, with the strongest reaction coming from Deputy Minister of Interior Bülent Turan.
"A HEARTBREAKING SCENE OCCURRED IN OUR GRAND ASSEMBLY"
Bülent Turan, who participated in a series of programs in the Lapseki district of Çanakkale, addressed the Imralı process and the events in the TBMM.
"We experienced a heartbreaking scene in our Grand Assembly, one of the most special institutions of this country. While everyone was putting their hands under the stone for the unity of the country, such indecencies only harm the goodwill process," he said.
Turan recalled the current state of the fight against terrorism, stating, "If there is no bloodshed in our country today, that is a great success. However, the fight against terrorism will never accept weakness, nor will it," he expressed.
"IT IS A BETRAYAL TO THE FUTURE OF THIS COUNTRY"
Continuing his criticisms towards the DEM Party, Turan harshly stated, "Is there not a single smart person among them?"
"Doesn't a sensible person come out and say, 'What you are doing is wrong'? Don't they see the reaction that arises in one part of the country while trying to please another part? What has been done is a betrayal of the claim for a Turkey without terrorism."
Turan drew attention to the crisis regions surrounding Turkey, saying, "While the world is in a ring of fire from Syria to Palestine, from Ukraine to Russia, it is essential for us, as 85 million, to stand shoulder to shoulder and protect our unity," he stated.
"WE WILL CONTINUE TO STAND FIRM IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM"
Deputy Minister of Interior Turan emphasized that there will be no compromise in Turkey's fight against terrorism:
"Our ministry will continue to be more vigilant in the fight against terrorism with all its units. We will not leave any space for anyone for the unity and peace of this country."
