President Erdoğan, who stated that virtual betting and addictions like gambling are rapidly spreading among young people, addressed the business world and NGOs. He said, "The intensity of digital attacks targeting our youth and the family institution is increasing day by day. In the fight against this danger that destroys homes, our NGOs and the business world also need to take responsibility and put their hands under the stone."
President Erdoğan met with representatives of NGOs and the business world in Rize. Highlighting the rapidly spreading danger of illegal betting and gambling among young people, President Erdoğan emphasized that everyone has a role to play in this matter.
ERDOĞAN: ILLEGAL BETTING AND GAMBLING INFILTRATE OUR CHILDREN
President Erdoğan stated: "The intensity of digital attacks targeting our youth and family institution is increasing day by day. At the forefront of these are new types of addiction such as illegal games of chance, virtual betting, and gambling. Harmful content deliberately circulated on social media and digital platforms is infiltrating our children from a very young age. The fight against these dangers, which destroy homes, separate our young ones from us, and bring fire to our hearths, is not only the duty of the state but also our primary responsibility.
"NGOs AND THE BUSINESS WORLD MUST ALSO STEP UP"
To raise healthy generations that create strong individuals, strong families, and a strong society, we must collectively do whatever is necessary. By declaring 2025 as the 'Year of Family', we have given new momentum to our efforts in this direction, along with our support and incentive packages. Our Family and Youth Fund, implemented in all 81 provinces, has become an important resource benefiting thousands of young couples. However, these are not enough. Our civil society organizations and the business world also need to take on responsibilities, step up, and contribute.
Highlights from Erdoğan's statements are as follows:
"We had the opportunity to see that the appetite for investment in Turkey is still high. Hopefully, we will soon witness the positive reflections of this. Since the coronavirus pandemic, just like the rest of the world, we have been troubled by inflation, and we need to first bring it under control and then ensure it decreases.
"WE WILL REDUCE INFLATION TO SINGLE DIGITS"
By continuing this with determination, we will bring it down to single-digit figures, thus ensuring that every segment of our nation can breathe easily. While continuously maintaining the disinflation process, we will also strengthen our investment, employment, production, and export-oriented policies. We certainly know the expectations of our business world from our government very well. In parallel with the improvement in inflation, we will gradually take steps to meet these expectations.
Dear brothers and sisters, we are well aware of this truth, just like you. The private sector's solidarity with the public has played a significant role in many of the achievements Turkey has made in the last 23 years. We have paved the way for you, hardworking and visionary business people, by removing obstacles and providing support in every field. You have contributed to the Turkish economy by seizing opportunities that came your way. Instead of listening to the doomsayers who spread pessimism by saying we are finished every time they open their mouths, you believed in this country and trusted this state. Thanks to this solidarity among us, we have experienced many successes together in Turkey. For instance, we increased our exports from 36 billion dollars to the threshold of 270 billion dollars together with you.
"WE BECAME ONE OF THREE COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD IN UAVs"
We reversed our external dependency, started exploring our underground resources by establishing our own shipping fleet. We became one of three countries in the world in UAVs. We will not allow this to be disrupted. We will be Turkey together. We will also achieve our goals in other areas. This work cannot be done with wordplay, polemics, or fighting, as the main opposition does. Governing a country is a serious matter and a heavy responsibility. For 23 years, we have carried this responsibility in diplomacy, the economy, and other fields.
