The Ministry of National Education announced that simultaneous evacuation drills will be conducted in all schools across the country on Monday, October 13, as part of the "Disasters and Resilience Month."

Within the scope of the "Disasters and Resilience Month" activities organized by the Ministry of National Education (MEB), simultaneous evacuation drills will be conducted in all schools on Monday, October 13.

EVACUATION DRILL IN ALL SCHOOLS ON MONDAY

According to a statement from the Ministry, MEB has designated October as "Disasters and Resilience Month" in the thematic calendar for the 2025-2026 academic year as part of the "Green Homeland - My School is a Solution for the Future" activities. In this context, simultaneous evacuation drills will be held in all schools on October 13 due to the "International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction."

"DISASTER AND EMERGENCY CARD" PREPARED

The Ministry has prepared a "Disaster and Emergency Card" with the aim of conducting disaster awareness and risk reduction training in schools with a holistic approach and strengthening it with family participation. The card, which includes a video message from Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin and is designed to raise awareness of disasters among students, contains checklists for students and parents on topics such as "home safety, preparing a disaster bag, determining gathering points, conducting family drills, and measures to be taken against regional risks."

Minister Tekin, in his message addressing students and parents during the Disasters and Resilience Month, emphasized the importance of being prepared for disasters. He called on parents to make preparations with their children to raise awareness about disasters, stating: "Dear parents, our teachers have discussed the precautions that can be taken against disasters with our students in schools. They guided our children to learn through experience and practice with various activities. We kindly ask you to give your children the opportunity to share what they have learned at school with you at home. Let us not forget, our greatest strength against disasters is knowledge, preparation, and solidarity. Our unity and togetherness inspire our ideal of establishing the Turkey Century through education, awareness, and solidarity."

After the drills where students will learn the correct behaviors during a disaster through practical application, the "Disaster and Emergency Card" will be delivered to parents through the students, and families will be encouraged to prepare disaster bags at home, identify gathering areas, and conduct hazard hunts.

Throughout October, activities themed around disaster awareness, first aid, search and rescue, and resilience will be carried out in school environments with the contributions of stakeholder institutions such as AFAD, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Turkish Red Crescent.
