To ensure that children are protected from alcohol, cigarettes, and harmful habits, the requirement for the installation of camera systems in businesses with licenses for the sale of alcohol and cigarettes is expanding. This obligation had particularly started to become widespread last year.

JANUARY 1 WARNING

Businesses selling alcohol and cigarettes in Istanbul have been warned to complete their security camera installations by January 1. Accordingly, the security camera system will be placed in a way that can record the sales area, all entrances/exits, and any parking lot from different angles, and the installed system will be suitable for facial recognition and will be set up accordingly.

PENALTY FOR NOT INSTALLING THE SYSTEM

According to a report by Türkiye Gazetesi, the security cameras will have sufficient resolution. They will be able to record clearly in dark environments. They will have night vision and will be able to record continuously 24/7. The video recordings will have a storage feature that can archive for at least 30 days. Archived footage can be easily accessed by entering the date and time when needed. Those who do not install the camera system will be penalized under the "acting contrary to orders" clause of the Misdemeanor Law.
