A patient who entered the MRI cabin for a scan at Karadeniz Technical University Farabi Hospital noticed that a recording was being made with a mobile phone camera inside. After the patient reported the situation to the hospital and security units, police teams took action and launched an investigation.



LEGAL ACTION INITIATED



During the investigations, it was determined that a recording was made with a camera in the MRI cabin by personnel working through the contractor firm. The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was dismissed from their job. It was stated that legal action has been initiated against the suspect.



STATEMENT FROM THE UNIVERSITY



A statement was made by the Rectorate of Karadeniz Technical University regarding the issue. The statement included the phrases, "On 19.02.2025, a patient who entered the MRI cabin at our Farabi Hospital noticed that a recording was being made with a mobile phone camera and immediately reported the situation to the security units." It was further stated, "As a result of the meticulous investigation conducted by the Chief Physician's Office of our Farabi Hospital and the security forces, it has been determined that the incident was carried out by a personnel working through the contractor firm at Farabi Hospital. Following the incident, the relevant personnel's relationship with the hospital was immediately terminated, and the matter has been referred to the judicial authorities. Our university is aware of its responsibility to protect patient privacy and safety at the highest level and will continue to take all necessary measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring. We respectfully announce this to the public."
