Prof. Dr. Canan Karatay, a specialist in Cardiology and Internal Medicine, shared the difficult days she experienced after the loss of her 47-year life partner, Dr. Ali Başak Karatay, who passed away at the age of 78, during a television program she attended. The couple, known for their nearly half-century-long marriage, drew attention with both their long-lasting union and the strong bond between them.

"I WOKE UP IN THE MORNING AND MY UPPER TEETH HAD FALLEN OUT"

Expressing that she stayed with her husband in the hospital during his illness, Karatay shared for the first time the physical effects of the intense stress she experienced during this period. On the program "A New Day with Çağla," Karatay stated that when she woke up in the morning, her upper teeth had fallen out, describing her experience with the following words:

"Due to the intense stress I experienced while my husband was in the hospital, my upper teeth fell out, and I lost weight rapidly during that period. We were staying in the hospital with my husband. One morning I woke up to find my upper teeth had fallen into my mouth. From grief and stress. I had been going around without teeth for a long time. I suffered quite a bit during the treatment process. Now I have had dentures made."

THEIR 47-YEAR MARRIAGE WAS HELD UP AS AN EXAMPLE

The marriage of the couple, who had one child, was held up as an example due to their long-standing union and mutual devotion. Karatay's statements once again revealed the deep emotional and physical effects caused by the loss of a spouse.
