The indictment prepared against 20-year-old Siyabent Şeker, who killed 19-year-old Helin Eren, who was three months pregnant, with a pistol in Diyarbakır, has been accepted. The indictment, which seeks an aggravated life sentence, claims that Siyabent lured Helin with words like "Come, let me buy you a meal. You are pregnant. I will buy you flowers," and then shot her five times at close range.
A blood-curdling incident occurred in the Çift Kapı area of the Sur district in Diyarbakır on July 24, 2025. Siyabent Şeker (20) called his 3-month pregnant partner Helin Eren (19), with whom he lived, and shot her with a gun he brought, causing severe injuries. Helin Eren, taken to the hospital, died. Siyabent Şeker, who fled after the incident, was captured around 04:00 with the murder weapon as a result of an operation conducted by the Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau teams. Helin Eren's body was laid to rest in the Çiftehavuzlar Cemetery after autopsy procedures.
Helin Eren THEY HAD SEPARATED 1 MONTH AGO The indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Siyabent Şeker was accepted. The indictment stated that Helin and Siyabent lived together under religious marriage, and the pregnant victim, due to incompatibility, left Siyabent about 1 month before the incident and returned to her family's home, during which time the victim and the suspect continued to communicate via mobile phone and applications.
HE TRICKED HELIN BY SAYING "I WILL BUY YOU FLOWERS" Additionally, the indictment noted that on July 24, 2025, suspect Siyabent contacted the victim Helin and persuaded her for a face-to-face meeting with statements like 'Come, let me buy you a meal, you are pregnant, I will buy you flowers.' When Helin, along with her cousin Z.M., arrived at Ali Emiri Street Çift Kapı front around 21:30 to meet Siyabent, Siyabent, who had followed Helin and her cousin, said 'I am here' and passed by Helin into the park, then without saying anything, fired 5 shots from close range with a pistol, targeting lethal areas, killing Helin.
Siyabent Şeker (left and center), Helin Eren (right) "I FIRED BECAUSE SHE INSULTED ME" The indictment also included the statements of the detained Siyabent Şeker. In his statement, Siyabent said that the reason he killed Helin was because she insulted him, that they argued on the day of the incident over the flower issue, that they had previously argued about abortion, that he did not plan to kill Helin before the incident, that he brought the gun in case Helin's brother, with whom she had a previous incident, might set a trap for him, and that he fired because she insulted him during the meeting.
"HELIN DEFINITELY DID NOT SWEAR" The indictment also included the statements of Helin's cousin Z.M. Z.M. stated in her testimony, 'I never saw Helin speak or send insulting messages to Siyabent. On the contrary, Siyabent insulted and threatened her and her family. Helin and Siyabent frequently contacted and messaged on social media. On the day of the incident, Siyabent said, 'Come, let me buy you a meal, you are pregnant, I will buy you flowers.' Siyabent called Helin before leaving home. There was definitely no fight; Helin definitely did not swear; they spoke properly. At the scene, as they passed through the left door of the Çift Kapı and walked forward, Siyabent suddenly shouted from behind, 'I am here.' Without saying anything, Siyabent pulled out a black gun from under his shirt, first shot at Helin's feet, she fell to the ground, and he continued shooting while she was on the ground.'
AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT DEMANDED It was requested that Siyabent Şeker be punished with the opinion that 'unjust provocation' provisions should not apply, that he be deprived of certain rights, and that recidivism provisions be applied. Additionally, an aggravated life imprisonment sentence was demanded for Siyabent Şeker for the crimes of 'Premeditated murder against a woman' and 'Unlicensed possession of a weapon.'
"WE ARE FACING AN INDICTMENT THAT COULD SERVE AS A PRECEDENT" Family lawyer Onur Değer said, 'First of all, we are facing an indictment that can serve as a precedent in cases of violence against women, often resulting in death, in the context of Helin Eren. The indictment, in essence, legally grounds the act committed against the victim without any justification and demands an aggravated life imprisonment sentence for the suspect. The important point here is that the allegations that suspects fabricate for unjust provocation reductions in many murder cases against women have not been accepted, and the indictment has a very clear perspective on unjust provocation. Looking at the method of the murder, using a gun with 5 shots on a defenseless woman reveals the suspect's cruel attitude at the time of the incident. We believe that judicial authorities will show the necessary sensitivity in crimes against women and children.'
HIS FRIEND ALSO KILLED HIS WIFE Meanwhile, it was revealed that Siyabent Şeker was a close friend of Cemal Alpaslan (30), who shot and killed İlayda Alkaş (22), with whom he lived under religious marriage, on July 15, 2025, and was captured and arrested. It was noted that in the investigation regarding İlayda, Siyabent was also detained on the day of the incident for testimony.
