Famous actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, who was among the 11 people detained for calling for a boycott on social media, was released under judicial control with a travel ban imposed.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has issued detention orders for 16 suspects as part of an investigation initiated ex officio regarding those who called for a 'boycott' on social media with divisive rhetoric, under the charges of 'Hate and Discrimination' and 'Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility'.
DETENTION OF 11 SUSPECTS INCLUDING FAMOUS ACTOR ÜZÜMOĞLU
11 suspects, including famous actor Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu, have been detained. According to journalist Emrullah Erdinç's claim, the reason for Üzümoğlu's detention was cited as establishing a WhatsApp group and inviting people to protests. The suspects were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.
SUPPORT FROM ACTORS TO THEIR COLLEAGUES
Some actors, including Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan and Kubilay Aka, came to the courthouse to support their colleagues.
RELEASED CONDITIONALLY UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
Üzümoğlu, who was referred to the court by the prosecutor's office with a request for judicial control, was released conditionally under judicial control with a travel ban imposed.
