COLLAPSED AT HOME

When 53-year-old famous comedian Cem Yilmaz suddenly began experiencing chest pain that progressively worsened while resting at his home in the Ayvacik district of Canakkale, 112 emergency services were notified. Yilmaz was taken to Ayvacik State Hospital, where initial tests revealed that his condition was a serious heart attack. After the critical first intervention by the local health teams, a race against time began. Yilmaz was quickly transferred by ambulance to Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University (COMU) Faculty of Medicine Hospital for a more comprehensive operation.

40-MINUTE CRITICAL INTERVENTION: STENT INSERTED THROUGH WRIST

The artist, who arrived at COMU Faculty of Medicine with his consciousness intact, was immediately taken to the angiography laboratory by Prof. Dr. Ercan Aksit, a faculty member of the Cardiology Department, and his expert team. In a delicate operation performed through the wrist and lasting approximately 40 minutes, a balloon and stent were applied to the blocked main artery supplying the front of the heart. Thanks to the flawless functioning of the first aid chain, the blockage was successfully opened without any necrosis of the heart tissue or development of heart failure.
