In the first match of the UEFA Nations League playoff round, our national team, which won 3-1 against Hungary in Istanbul, will face the return match away on Sunday, March 23. There have been some changes in the squad. Mert Günok and Yunus Akgün have been removed from the squad, while Rayyan Baniya has been included.
The TFF announced that there has been a change in the A National Team squad before the away match against Hungary in the UEFA Nations League play-off round rematch.
MERT AND YUNUS REMOVED FROM THE SQUAD
The statement made by the TFF is as follows;
"In the second match of the UEFA Nations League play-off round, our A National Team will face Hungary away on Sunday, March 23, and a change has been made in the candidate squad.
It has been determined that Mert Günok and Yunus Akgün, who have been continuing their training individually throughout the camp, will not be fit for the rematch against Hungary, and it has been decided to remove both national football players from the candidate squad.
BANIYA INCLUDED, ALSO PARTICIPATED IN TRAINING
Additionally, due to the ongoing evaluations of the health status of our defenders, Rayyan Baniya, who plays for the Italian club Palermo, has also been included in the A National Team candidate squad."
Rayyan Baniya, who was loaned from Trabzonspor to Palermo at the beginning of this season, was included in the National Team squad by Montella after his performance in Italy. Baniya has played in 24 official matches this season and scored 2 goals. Baniya also participated in today's training.
WHEN IS THE REMATCH?
The rematch between the two teams will be played on Sunday, March 23, at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, and will start at 20:00 Turkish time. The critical match will be officiated by German referee Felix Zwayer. Zwayer's assistants will be Robert Kempter and Christian Dietz. Florian Badstübner will serve as the fourth official for the match. Bastian Dankert will act as VAR, and Bastian Dankert will also serve as AVAR. The national team gained a significant advantage by winning the first match 3-1 at RAMS Park.
