A harsh response came from Presidential Chief Advisor Mustafa Akış to Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu's statement regarding his departure from the prime ministry, 'An internal coup was staged against me because I wanted to pass the Political Ethics Law,' and his accusation of some names as a 'gang.' Addressing Davutoğlu as 'our second-to-last prime minister,' Akış argued that the real goal was not transparency but to purge Erdoğan. In his statements, Akış accused Davutoğlu of distorting dates.
A very harsh response came from Presidential Chief Advisor Mustafa Akış to the statements made by Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu regarding his departure from the Prime Ministry, in which he said, "An internal coup was staged against me because I wanted to enact a Political Ethics Law." Addressing Davutoğlu as "our second-to-last prime minister" in his statement, Akış shared historical data about the process and accused him of "lying."
DAVUTOĞLU: I INSISTED ON THE ETHICS LAW, MY POWERS WERE RESTRICTED
In his speech, Davutoğlu recalled the departure process in 2016 and said, "My powers were restricted because I insisted on the Political Ethics Law, Zoning Law, and Transparency Law. I was given the choice of either ethics or the seat. That night, I got up for the Tahajjud prayer and made my decision: I prayed not to bestow power where there is no ethics." Davutoğlu also described those who opposed him at the time as a "triple gang."
AKIŞ: THE ISSUE IS NOT TRANSPARENCY BUT ELIMINATING ERDOĞAN
Responding to these claims on social media, Presidential Chief Advisor Mustafa Akış argued that the events did not occur simultaneously as described. Reminding that Davutoğlu announced the Political Ethics Law in January 2015, while the delegation of powers took place in May 2016, Akış stated:
"During your tenure as the second-to-last prime minister, as soon as you became prime minister, you, along with the gang around you and backed by international forces, tried first to neutralize and then to eliminate our esteemed President. Your so-called transparency was not a well-intentioned reform movement; on the contrary, it was part of a slander campaign on the 'blessed path' you walked, claiming that 'those before us were corrupt, we are pure.'"
"THE PEOPLE YOU CALL A TRIPLE GANG STOOD UP FOR THE LAW"
Defending Binali Yıldırım, Berat Albayrak, and Süleyman Soylu, whom Davutoğlu targeted, Akış stated that these individuals stood against Davutoğlu to protect the law of the AK Party. Akış said, "When you attempted to change the party's DNA with such and many other dirty tricks, naturally the organization that owns the AK Party and its highest representative body stood up for its law and took away your authority to appoint provincial heads.
It was due to your targeting of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's leadership in this way that the people you call a triple gang, along with many of our friends, stood against you. May Allah be pleased with all those friends, especially Binali Yıldırım, Berat Albayrak, and Süleyman Soylu."
"DO NOT USE YOUR WORSHIPS FOR YOUR LIES"
At the end of his statement, Akış criticized Davutoğlu for bringing religious values into political debate and concluded with harsh words:
"Our esteemed ambitious second-to-last prime minister, now many of those you ally with in corners say, 'Please save us from our ambitious second-to-last prime minister.'
Therefore, whoever you speak with in corners, please protect their rights as well. Do not use them as a talking point before the public. What those speaking in corners say to you or to us is uncertain.
Finally, esteemed second-to-last prime minister, please do not exploit our Miraj Night and your Tahajjud prayer for your lies and ambitions. You can make public statements without saying these. We already believe you are a Muslim."
