In the village of Muratlar in Çanakkale's Bayramiç district, young people gathered for the annual charity meal and spent the day cruising along a 1.5-kilometer road called 'Lovers' Street,' seeking the most suitable marriage candidates for themselves.
The charity meal, held every year on the second Sunday of May at 'Lovers' Lane,' located 25 kilometers from the Bayramiç district of Çanakkale, was carried out.
THEY SPENT THE DAY TOURING TO FIND THE MOST SUITABLE SPOUSE CANDIDATE
100 cauldrons of keşkek prepared for the village charity were served to participants after the mevlit recitation. While thousands of people from surrounding provinces and villages attended the meal, many young men and women spent the day touring along the 1.5-kilometer road starting from the charity site and extending to the forest to find the most suitable spouse candidate. This year, many young people met each other at Lovers' Lane.
"WE MET FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THIS STREET"
Esma Çetinkaya (19), who said she met her boyfriend thanks to this street, said, "We have a relationship that has been ongoing for years. We are happy. We welcome everyone to our village. We met for the first time on this street, and we have been together for many years. We will get engaged next year."
"THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO MET AND GOT MARRIED HERE"
Özgür Güngör (22), who said he first spoke to his girlfriend on this street, said, "A relationship started for us here. Hopefully, God willing, it will come to fruition. We are very happy. There are many people who met and got married here. It's an 80-year tradition."
THERE WERE ALSO THOSE REFRESHING THEIR MEMORIES
