Unnamed sources speaking to the Axios website made statements regarding Ratcliffe's visit to the Russian capital Moscow last week.
The sources, who claimed Ratcliffe proposed a trilateral meeting between Trump, Putin, and Zelenskyy, also alleged that the purpose of this visit was to determine whether senior Russian intelligence officials could help convince Putin to resume negotiations with Ukraine under US mediation.
"A CONSTRUCTIVE PERSON"
The sources argued that, according to Ratcliffe, Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Aleksandr Bortnikov is "a constructive person who could help restart diplomatic efforts."
US President Trump stated in a comment to Axios that Ratcliffe's visit was "standard business activity" and was not intended to warn Russia against attacks on the NATO region.
In a report by The New York Times, it was alleged that during Ratcliffe's visit to Moscow, he called on Bortnikov to make a deal with Ukraine.
