Sports commentator Tahir Kum spoke about illegal betting and match-fixing investigations, claiming that a much bigger process will begin in August. Kum said, 'Today the number of names is 19-20, but it won't stay that way. In the first week of August, before the 2026-27 season starts, a storm will break out in Turkey. We will be talking not about tens or hundreds, but about thousands here.'
Striking new allegations have been made regarding the illegal gambling and match-fixing investigations that have shaken Turkish football. Sports commentator Tahir Kum, in a statement on the matter, claimed that a major process will begin in August.
''A STORM WILL BREAK OUT IN TURKEY IN AUGUST''
Tahir Kum said, "Today 20 people are being talked about, but it won't stay this way. A storm will break out in Turkey in August."
HALUK LEVENT'S COUPONS AND THE AHBAP INVESTIGATION
Tahir Kum referred to the high-value coupons that artist Haluk Levent is alleged to have placed bets with. Stating that he finds it "meaningful" that Levent placed coupons worth 300-400-500 thousand lira on matches, Kum said, "I think a person who bets such large amounts on matches and makes coupons must definitely have a football background. Or I believe they must have a football mindset." Kum also argued that Levent might have exchanged ideas with figures from the football world. He expressed his forecast that the investigation into the AHBAP Association could spread to the football community.
''THIS IS NOT A GAMBLING WAVE, IT'S A MATCH-FIXING WAVE''
Emphasizing that the investigation is not limited to gambling, Kum said, "We heard before the World Cup that there were findings regarding certain individuals, including managers of four major clubs. This is not just a gambling wave but also a match-fixing wave."
''WE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THOUSANDS, NOT HUNDREDS''
Tahir Kum claimed that the investigation will not be limited to the current names, stating, "Today the number of names is 19-20, but it won't stay this way. Before the 2026-27 season starts in the first week of August, a storm will break out in Turkey. We will be talking about not dozens, not hundreds, but thousands."
