The 'dual-headed' group meeting crisis within the CHP turned into a scuffle at the Parliament gate. After Özel and Kılıçdaroğlu announced they would hold meetings at the same time, an accreditation application for 6,000 people was made to the Parliament. Tension erupted between supporters of Özgür Özel and supporters of Kılıçdaroğlu, who gathered early in the morning in front of the TBMM Dikmen Gate, with chants of "Traitor Kemal" rising from the crowd.
The administration crisis that erupted in the Republican People's Party (CHP) following the court's annulment decision today spilled from the corridors of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) to the Parliament's gate.
TENSION PEAKED
With both Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu announcing they would take the podium at 1:30 PM, eyes turned to Ankara, where tension reached its peak ahead of the historic group meeting.
ALARM AT THE PARLIAMENT
Before the meeting, expected to become a show of force for both figures, the Parliament administration went on high alert. According to information obtained, accreditation for visitors was arranged for 4,400 people supporting CHP Leader Özgür Özel and 1,400 people supporting Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. It was learned that due to this massive pile-up of a total of 6,000 applications, the Parliament administration held an emergency security meeting last night and raised measures to the highest level.
ÖZEL AND KILIÇDAROĞLU SUPPORTERS FACE OFF
Activity began early in the morning at the Dikmen Gate of the TBMM. The crowd flocking to the Parliament to listen to Özgür Özel chanted slogans of "Either all together or none of us" for a long time. As Kılıçdaroğlu supporters started arriving at the same spot in the following hours, cold winds blew between the two groups and tension escalated. Moments when citizens in the group supporting Özel reacted harshly to Kılıçdaroğlu supporters with chants of "Traitor Kemal" were captured on cameras.
ÖZEL'S TEAM FILLED THE HALL
Inside the Parliament, at the CHP Group Meeting Hall, the dominance of the Özel front was evident from early hours. Figures like Gökhan Günaydın, Suat Özçağdaş, and Özgür Karabat were seen taking their seats early for the meeting to be held by Özgür Özel. Citizens were being let in after identity checks for security reasons.
