While Necla Uygur, the wife of master theater actor Nejat Uygur, was being laid to rest, the outfit choice of famous presenter and actress İpek Tanrıyar, who attended the funeral, sparked a big controversy.
Necla Uygur, the wife of the late Nejat Uygur, one of the doyens of Turkish theater, and the mother of brothers Süheyl and Behzat Uygur, died at the age of 89 in the hospital where she was receiving treatment. The master figure, whose death plunged the theater world into mourning, was buried in the Feriköy Family Cemetery after the funeral prayer performed at Teşvikiye Mosque.
The style of actress and presenter İpek Tanrıyar left its mark on the ceremony, which was attended by many famous names from the art and high-society life.
"DECOLLETAGE" REACTION
İpek Tanrıyar, who did not leave the Uygur family alone in their time of grief, quickly became a hot topic with the outfit she chose for the funeral. Although Tanrıyar wore a headscarf, her choice of a dress with a plunging neckline was harshly criticized.
"SHE COVERED HER HEAD BUT..."
After images from the ceremony surfaced, social media users reacted to Tanrıyar's style. Users who argued that the outfit was not suitable for funeral etiquette made thousands of comments such as "She covered her head but showed cleavage," "Is there no respect left even for a funeral setting?" and "If you had just worn a plain T-shirt, you wouldn't have attracted so much attention."
