Climate change due to global warming has negatively affected Kangal dogs. The ancient heritage of Anatolia, Sivas Kangal dogs, known for their excellent herd protection and herding abilities, have become lethargic due to high temperatures and the absence of cold weather. CHANGES IN FUR COLORS HAVE BEEN OBSERVEDWith global warming, these dogs have experienced variations in their fur colors and have almost lost their inherent instincts to be tougher and more aggressive. Expert Kangal dog breeder Hüseyin Yıldız stated, "Very bad imbalances have started to change in these animals living in nature. There has been a change in the entire hierarchy of nature among Kangals and other living beings. This change has incredibly impacted the character of the animals and negatively affected their psychology." "CLIMATE HAS REVEALED PHYSICAL CHANGES IN DOGS"Yıldız noted that all living beings in nature are degenerating due to climate change, stating, "They cannot adapt well. Climate has caused both character changes and physical changes in dogs. 15-20 years ago, dogs experienced snow, winter, and cold weather during this season, and these animals were prepared. They could easily adapt themselves. They would increase or fluff up their fur. The fat levels were increasing. The activity levels in animals were very high due to the cold, and they became rhythmic and affectionate. In connection with this, we could easily see that the dogs were accustomed to this season. With global warming, we have started to see a few shades of variation in their colors. In the geography they inhabit, the color tones of the animals turn white in winter and yellow in summer. The animals have started to become bare. Kangals are animals of the harsh winter. They grow in cold climate centers. But in this situation, you see them almost in spring-like weather. They have definitely not abandoned the yellowness in their colors. This climate has continuously affected the animals," he expressed. "THE ANIMAL'S PSYCHOLOGY HAS BEEN NEGATIVELY AFFECTED"Yıldız mentioned that there has been a change in the character of the dogs, stating, "There has been a significant change in character regarding definition and recognition. An animal that grew up enjoying the cold, eager for the cold, and waiting for the cold can no longer see this. Because it cannot insulate. Since it cannot insulate, it has almost lost its character of being tougher and more aggressive. They have started to act more according to the summer and spring seasons. This is what we call assimilation. There has been a change in the entire hierarchy of nature among Kangals and other living beings. Never think that a Kangal will relax before -10 degrees. Because even if you bring it and put it in the kennel, the animal would mobilize when it was cold and snowing. It would almost lie on the snow, mobilizing itself and relaxing. Because this change has incredibly impacted the character of the animals and negatively affected their psychology. In other words, it is searching for this, and we observe and see it. Because their need for food has stopped. They used to eat a lot in winter. This situation has started to decrease, and along with this, they no longer sleep outside. The animal lies lazily in its kennel, waiting."
