The Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation after a veiled woman was not allowed into a site's pool area, citing a management decision. Following the incident, the site's pool attendant was detained, and a detention order was issued for the site manager, who was determined to be abroad.

In Mersin, it was claimed that a woman wearing a burkini was not allowed into the pool area of a housing complex, citing a management decision. The woman, stating she was not permitted to go to her child, was recorded on a mobile phone camera arguing with the staff.

"IS MY PASSAGE FORBIDDEN?" ANSWER "YES"

In the images shared on social media, which sparked great controversy, a woman wearing a burkini is seen trying to enter the pool area but being stopped by a complex staff member. During the moments recorded on the woman's mobile phone camera, the staff member's response, "Yes, sister, it's the complex management's decision," to the question "Is my passage forbidden?" draws attention.

"THIS IS AN ATTACK ON HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS"

The woman, arguing that her outfit was an appropriate swimsuit (burkini), strongly reacted to being prevented from going to her child in the pool. Refusing to accept the situation, the woman objected to the practice by telling the staff, "This is an attack on human rights and freedoms." In the continuation of the footage, the complex staff member stated that this practice was not a personal decision but was carried out in line with a decision unanimously made by members at a general assembly meeting.

CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE TAKES ACTION

The Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action following the incident that quickly became a topic of discussion and drew reactions. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the detention of complex manager M.G. and pool attendant B.D. It was learned that B.D. was taken into custody by police teams, while M.G. was abroad.
