GENAR's October 2026 Turkey Report included striking results regarding the vote shares of political parties. In the research, while the AK Party maintained its first place, the New Party, which split from the CHP, rose to second place. GENAR President İhsan Aktaş, in his assessment of the political effects of the funding crisis, said that the AK Party's vote share declined by about 3 points compared with September.

AK PARTY IN FIRST PLACE, NEW PARTY SECOND

According to the October 2026 results shared by GENAR, the vote shares of the political parties are as follows:

  • Other: 1.2%

In the research results, the difference between the AK Party and the New Party was calculated as 10.4 points. The DEM Party came third, while the CHP came fourth.

“AK PARTY'S VOTES DECLINED BY AROUND 3 POINTS”

GENAR President İhsan Aktaş assessed the impact of the funding crisis on political balances.

Aktaş said, “After the funding crisis, the most important question the public wondered about was how much the funding crisis would affect politics. In this context, I believe that the political damage in the first days was higher.”

Recalling that the AK Party was in the 36 percent band in September, Aktaş noted that its vote share declined to the 33 percent band in October and stated that a loss of about 3 points occurred.

Aktaş said he thought that the fragmented structure of the opposition was effective in preventing the loss from being higher.

“THREE OPPOSITION PARTIES IN TURKEY ARE BEING RE-ESTABLISHED”

Arguing that the opposition parties in Turkey are in a restructuring process, Aktaş drew attention to the New Party, the DEM Party, and the CHP.

Noting that the New Party has not yet completed its founding stage, Aktaş stated that although the party ranked second in the research, it would take time for it to conduct politics institutionally.

Saying that after its congress the DEM Party went into restructuring to transform into the Democratic Republic Movement, Aktaş argued that the party would begin developing policies for the entire country.
