In simultaneous operations coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul, Muş, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, and Tekirdağ, a street gang was targeted. As part of the operation, legal proceedings were initiated against 32 suspects, including 3 lawyers, while Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek stated that operations against criminal organizations and gangs would be carried out with determination.
Under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were carried out in 5 provinces centered in Istanbul, targeting one of the leading street gangs. As part of the operation, legal proceedings were initiated against 32 suspects, including 3 lawyers.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION CONDUCTED
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale operation was conducted against street gangs and organized crime structures.
In simultaneous operations organized in Istanbul, Muş, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, and Tekirdağ, a street gang considered to threaten public order was targeted. As part of the operation, legal proceedings were initiated against a total of 32 suspects, including 3 lawyers.
"ZERO-TOLERANCE STRUGGLE AGAINST CRIMINAL STRUCTURES"
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, in his statement regarding the operation, stated that the fight against street gangs, organized crime organizations, and all criminal structures targeting public peace continues resolutely.
Gürlek, who stated that they act in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, emphasized an uncompromising struggle against structures that threaten the peace of cities and the future of young people.
POINTED OUT STRUCTURES THAT DRIVE CHILDREN TO CRIME
Gürlek noted that criminal organizations target children and young people, using misleading rhetoric such as "Since you are young, you won't get punished."
Gürlek stated that directing children to serious crimes such as gang membership, attempted murder, armed attack, and robbery is subject to severe sanctions under the current legal system, and added that efforts to increase penalties are ongoing.
"IT WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THEY ARE UPROOTED"
Gürlek, stating that operations against criminal structures that try to gain unjust benefits by intimidating citizens will continue, said, "Our sweeping operations against these structures that try to ensnare our children in criminal networks and threaten the safety of our streets will continue resolutely until they are uprooted."
Gürlek also thanked the personnel of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office conducting the investigation, the teams of the Istanbul Provincial Police Department, and all public officials involved in the operation.
