In the case regarding the incident in which Yasemin Dermenci, who went missing in 2006 in the Fethiye district of Muğla, was killed and buried, the defendant Tursun Karabulut was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional murder'. Karabulut denied the charges and claimed that his wife committed the murder.
In the Fethiye district of Muğla, in the case regarding the death of Yasemin Dermenci, who went missing in 2006 and was determined to have been killed with a rifle and buried, following statements taken last year in connection with a different missing person case, the defendant was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment.
IT EMERGED WHILE INVESTIGATING A DIFFERENT MURDER
Within the scope of the work initiated by the Fethiye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to shed light on unsolved incidents, teams from the Muğla Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate and the Fethiye District Police Department re-examined the file regarding Yasemin Dermenci, who went missing in 2006. In statements taken last year regarding a different missing person case, information was obtained that Dermenci was killed with a rifle and buried in 2006. Following this, as a result of technical and physical surveillance conducted by the teams, Tursun Karabulut (41) and Ö.D. (45), who were considered to be involved in the incident, were caught and taken into custody.
HER BONES WERE FOUND IN A FORESTED AREA
During a search with an excavator in the forested area shown by Tursun Karabulut in the Korkuteli district of Antalya, human bones believed to belong to Yasemin Dermenci were found. A DNA investigation was initiated regarding the bones.
After their procedures at the police station, Tursun Karabulut and Ö.D. were referred to the courthouse and arrested. Before the hearing, Ö.D. was released and was included in the file as a "witness."
"I DIDN'T KILL HER, MY HUSBAND DID"
At the fourth hearing of the case held at the Antalya 6th Heavy Penal Court regarding the murder of Yasemin Dermenci, the detained defendant Tursun Karabulut and his lawyer attended. Karabulut, who made his defense at the hearing, claimed that his deceased wife killed Dermenci, saying, "I request my acquittal. I didn't kill anyone, my husband killed her. He buried the body with his friends. He also threatened me to stay silent."

At the previous hearing, the public prosecutor, who had presented his opinion on the merits of the case, had requested that the defendant Tursun Karabulut be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. In his defense at the verdict hearing, Karabulut did not accept the charges and requested his acquittal.
After the defenses of the parties, the court panel announced its decision and sentenced the defendant Tursun Karabulut to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional killing'.
