It was claimed that a one-month temporary suspension decision was made against four co-mayors in three districts in Diyarbakır, following the work of the DEM Party Local Governments Commission and complaints from citizens. However, while Hamdullah Demir, the co-mayor of Hani Municipality mentioned in the claim, stated that he is at his post, the Yenişehir Municipality also argued that the co-mayors are on annual leave.
It has been claimed that an investigation was launched and a temporary suspension decision was taken within the scope of the internal party process against four co-mayors of three districts governed by the DEM Party in Diyarbakır.
It was stated that the process, which is said to have been initiated in line with the studies conducted by the DEM Party Local Governments Commission and complaints from citizens, is not a decision taken by the party's disciplinary board but is being carried out within the party's internal functioning.
ALLEGATION OF SUSPENSION FOR 4 CO-MAYORS IN 3 DISTRICTS
According to the claim; an investigation has been initiated against Yenişehir Municipality co-mayors Safiye Akdağ and Mehmet Ergün, Dicle Municipality Co-Mayor Hacı Akengin, and Hani Municipality Co-Mayor Hamdullah Demir.
It was alleged that within the scope of the investigation, a 1-month temporary suspension from duty decision was given for the said co-mayors.
While no official statement was made by the DEM Party on the subject, general headquarters officials stated that there is no decision such as withdrawal or dismissal regarding the said names.
Officials stated that the process may have been initiated within the scope of the internal functioning of local governments.
HANİ CO-MAYOR DEMİR: I AM AT THE BEGINNING OF MY DUTY
Hamdullah Demir, the Hani Municipality Co-Mayor whose name was mentioned in the said claim, said that no investigation has been opened against him and he has not been suspended from duty.
While Demir stated that he is at the beginning of his duty, Hani Municipality officials also reported that Demir and other Co-Mayor Besile Narin continue their duties.
YENİŞEHİR MUNICIPALITY: THEY ARE ON ANNUAL LEAVE
Yenişehir Municipality also did not accept the claim that Safiye Akdağ and Mehmet Ergün were suspended from duty.
In the evaluation made by the municipality, it was argued that the two co-mayors were not suspended from duty and were using their annual leave.
Thus, the claims that a temporary suspension decision was taken against four co-mayors became controversial with the statements of the relevant municipalities and co-mayors.
