Denials have been issued regarding the claim made in the defense of Murat Ongun, who is detained in the İBB case, that his son's pocket money from a piggy bank was taken during a house search. In a statement from the Center for Countering Disinformation, it was said, "In its statement made on that date, the Directorate of Communications' DMM stated that the claims in some media outlets that 'Police took 3-5 thousand TL from Murat Ongun's son's piggy bank' were manipulation."
Murat Ongun, who is being tried under arrest as part of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) case, sparked a new debate by claiming in his court defense that his son's allowance was seized during a search of his home.
The Presidential Directorate of Communications' Center for Countering Disinformation (DMM) denied these claims in a statement. The statement said: "Murat Ongun, the Media Manager of the Imamoglu Criminal Organization, claimed during his defense today that his son's allowance was taken during a search of his home as part of the investigation. This claim was later denied by the Center for Countering Disinformation, and it was seen that the DMM stated that 'the child's allowance came out of the safe.'"
"ONGUN'S CLAIMS ARE MANIPULATION"
In fact, the Communications Directorate's DMM stated in its statement at that time that the claims in some media outlets that "Police took 3-5 thousand TL from Murat Ongun's son's piggy bank" were manipulation.
The statement said that no money was taken from a piggy bank during the search; according to the search report, the cash in question was seized from the safe along with other foreign currencies.
"TRYING TO CREATE PERCEPTION"
According to the DMM's statement at the time, 9,800 TL and 20,000 TL found in different locations at the residence, as well as 31,050 euros, 1,640 pounds, 227 dollars, 20,000 TL, 13,000 TL, 20,000 TL, and 100 TL in cash found in a safe were seized.
Therefore, it appears that Murat Ongun is trying to create a perception by distorting the DMM statement. The DMM statement revealed that the cash seized during the search was found in the safe and at different points of the residence."
