Former model Deniz Akkaya appeared before a judge with a request for up to 5 years and 11 months in prison for allegedly insulting and threatening a judge on social media. The court ruled to lift the judicial control measure of house arrest for Akkaya.

The trial began against former model Deniz Akkaya, who is accused of threatening and insulting the judge overseeing the custody case regarding her daughter via social media, with a request for up to 5 years and 11 months in prison. In the hearing held at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance, the defendant Deniz Akkaya and the attorneys for the parties were present.

"I HAVE EXPERIENCED THINGS THAT WILL UPSET ME"

In her defense during the hearing, defendant Akkaya stated that she has never had any legal issues with any judge or prosecutor, saying, "This is the first time I have experienced such a thing in my life. It is very clear that the situation is malicious, and just as I was about to buy a house in Greece, I saw that my accounts were blocked. Even though I am a victim, I could not reach the judge. I am seeking my rights regarding why I have been subjected to such oppression when I have rights granted to me by the laws. The judge imposed measures on my assets and bank accounts, thus completely eliminating my ability to meet my needs. I made posts on social media to express this victimization. My family and I are experiencing serious victimization in terms of health. My posts are filled with sadness, anger, and resentment. I have experienced things that will upset and anger me greatly, and that is why I said those words," she said.

The complainant's attorney stated in the hearing that their complaints against the defendant continue and requested her punishment. The defendant's attorney requested the lifting of the judicial control measure of house arrest for her client.
