Famous actress Deniz Çakır made striking statements regarding the age difference debates in TV series. She criticized the industry with her words, "It is as if women have an expiration date."
Recently, the age difference between partners in the television world has come back to the agenda. Especially after Kenan İmirzalioğlu and Afra Saraçoğlu became partners in the same project, the 23-year age gap between them sparked discussions.
Similarly, the approximately 20-year age difference between Murat Yıldırım and Cemre Baysel was also criticized.
'THIS IS UNFAIR'
Deniz Çakır, who spoke on the subject, evaluated the issue from a different perspective. The famous actress highlighted the perception of age between female and male actors, using the following statements:
"We encounter roles where the woman is younger and the man is older. There is nothing that cannot happen. Just as in life, it can also be in a series. Women are viewed as if they have an expiration date. Men remain the same, while the women next to them are updated. This is unfair. It's not something new; it's not a topic I will spend time thinking about."
Çakır's words brought the long-discussed issue of "double standards" in the industry back to the forefront.
