In Zonguldak Ereğli, where swimming in the sea is strictly prohibited due to adverse weather conditions, the recklessness of two individuals who ignored warnings nearly ended in tragedy. The people, who were swept away by waves and at risk of drowning at Köseağzı location, were rescued at the last moment thanks to a human chain formed by those on the beach and were taken to the hospital.

In the Ereğli district of Zonguldak, despite the ban on swimming due to adverse weather conditions and all warnings, 2 people who jumped into the water risked disappearing among the waves. Thanks to a "human chain" formed by citizens on the shore holding hands, the 2 people narrowly escaped certain death.

THEY IGNORED WARNINGS, WERE SWEPT AWAY BY WAVES

The incident occurred during the afternoon hours at the Köseağzı location in Alı Mahallesi, Ereğli district. Due to harsh waves and unfavorable weather conditions in the area, swimming was strictly prohibited by authorities. However, ignoring the warnings and danger, 2 people entered the sea to cool off. As the waves suddenly intensified, they were caught in the current and began struggling to stay afloat, unable to return to the shore.

GREAT SOLIDARITY ON THE BEACH: HUMAN CHAIN FORMED

Realizing the severity of the situation and the drowning risk faced by the individuals, other citizens on the beach organized instantly. Instead of entering the waves one by one, they formed a massive human chain by holding hands, effectively creating a barrier against the current. Struggling against the raging waves, these heroic citizens managed to safely pull the two drowning individuals, who were about to drown, to the shore using the end of the chain.

NO LIFE THREAT

Following the reports from bystanders, medical teams were quickly dispatched to the scene. The two individuals, rescued from the waves and given initial treatment on the beach, were taken to the hospital by waiting ambulances for medical care. According to initial reports from the hospital, it was learned that the individuals who narrowly escaped death are not in life-threatening condition.

Authorities warned that the swimming ban must be strictly followed during adverse weather conditions, while witnesses of the incident stated that the citizens' quick reaction prevented a major tragedy.
