Located in Kızılay Square, the heart of Ankara, the fate of the famous Kızılay Mall, about which various claims have been made on social media for days, has been clarified. The mall management announced that a comprehensive renovation has begun in the building and that it will reopen its doors in 2027.
Renovation work has begun at Kızılay Mall, located at Kızılay Square, Ankara's busiest point. The precautions taken and the operations carried out on site within this scope drew attention. While all businesses operating inside the shopping mall were completely vacated, the giant brand signs on the building's exterior facade were removed one by one. Extensive security measures were taken around the mall for the construction and renovation work. Additionally, the metro exit right in front of the mall was closed to pedestrian traffic for the safety of the work.

Following rumors spread on social media, an official statement came from the Kızılay side. In the announcement, it was stated that the building has not been completely closed and has entered a comprehensive renovation process in line with today's needs. The statement emphasized that Kızılay Mall will reopen to Ankara residents in 2027 with its renovated, modern face.

The story of the area that gave its name to the capital's square has witnessed many changes over the years. The historic original Kızılay building, which gave the square its name, was demolished in 1979. After years of construction and bureaucratic crises, the issue was resolved, and the structure opened as a mall in 2011. The building, which served the capital's residents for many years, is currently temporarily closed due to comprehensive renovation and modernization work, and is preparing to reopen its doors in 2027 with its renovated architecture.
