It was claimed that the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, criticized industrialists and reacted to them during a meeting hosted by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance stated regarding the allegations about the meeting held by Minister Mehmet Şimşek at the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), "The attempt to present this with false elements and create a negative perception in the public is unacceptable."
On March 28, a closed-door meeting was held with the Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek and members of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO). During the meeting, which addressed sectoral issues, claims emerged in the public domain that Şimşek reacted to the industrialists.
Following the news in question, the Ministry made a written statement. The statement emphasized that a news article in a newspaper depicting a negative picture regarding the meeting did not reflect the truth.
“THE PERCEPTION BEING CREATED IS UNACCEPTABLE”
The Ministry recalled that the news appeared on the front page of the newspaper, stating, “It is unacceptable to attempt to portray the meeting where our esteemed Minister met with our industrialists, hosted by ISO, in a negative light with elements contrary to the truth.”
“THE MEETING TOOK PLACE IN A POSITIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE ATMOSPHERE”
The statement pointed out that journalistic principles were not adhered to, expressing that content served without specifying sources and without verification was aimed at misleading the public.
The statement noted that the meeting took place in a closed-door format, first with a presentation and then with a consultation section, and it was recorded that the conversation occurred in a sincere, positive, and constructive environment.
The Ministry also emphasized that the public should approach the news, which was reported out of context, with caution.
WHAT HAPPENED?
It was claimed that during the meeting with members of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek said, “Stop giving negative energy by talking here and there. You go out and criticize the press. You are ignoring the facts. The negative criticisms you make are perceived negatively abroad.”
