Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosted the U.S. Ambassador to Ankara, Tom Barrack, in Ankara. Minister Fidan also spoke on the phone with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi. In both meetings, the possible diplomatic solutions to the war between the U.S., Israel, and Iran were discussed.
While conflicts between the USA, Israel, and Iran continue, Turkey has accelerated its diplomatic efforts to end the war. In this context, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held important meetings.
MINISTER FIDAN HOSTED BARRACK IN ANKARA
Minister Hakan Fidan received Tom Barrack, the US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Representative for Syria, in Ankara. Barrack stated in a post on the social media platform of the US-based X company that they had a productive meeting with Minister Fidan, saying, "As we continue our efforts in line with President Donald Trump's vision for a safer region, our partnership with Turkey remains vital."
HE DISCUSSED WITH ARAKCI ON THE PHONE
Additionally, Minister Fidan discussed the course of the war and other developments with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakçi over the phone. He noted that the ongoing war and the diplomatic initiatives being carried out to stop this war were evaluated during the meeting.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
While negotiations between Tehran and Washington administrations were ongoing, Israel and the USA launched a military attack on Iran on February 28.
Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Kuwait, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel. In the US-Israel attacks, many high-ranking officials, including the then Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed.
