In the Siverek district of Şanlıurfa, a disabled couple and their children in a car that was stopped by gunfire from people in 3 vehicles following them as they were returning from a relative's visit were beaten. It was learned that the 4 suspects detained upon complaint said in their statements that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding. The moment of the attack was recorded on a mobile phone.
A car driven by Mehmet Ali Sevincik, returning from a relative's visit in Şanlıurfa, was followed for a while by another vehicle on the rural section of the Siverek-Viranşehir highway.
3 VEHICLES FOLLOWED AND OPENED FIRE WITH A RIFLE
Then, with a pickup truck and another car joining, the number of following vehicles increased to 3. Mehmet Ali Sevincik, a kidney patient and disabled individual, initially thought the vehicle behind was asking for the right of way and let it pass. However, after a while, the suspects following opened fire with a rifle on the car carrying the Sevincik family.
DISABLED COUPLE AND THEIR CHILDREN BEATEN AFTER BEING FORCED OUT OF THE CAR
Panicking, the driver Sevincik lost control of the steering wheel and went off the road. The suspects then blocked the car and forced Mehmet Ali Sevincik, his wife Fatma Sevincik, and their disabled child İremsu Sevincik out of the vehicle. The family was beaten by the suspects. After talking among themselves for a while, the suspects then got into their vehicles and left the scene.
Following the incident, the frightened family reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the region. The injured Mehmet Ali Sevincik, Fatma Sevincik, and their child İremsu Sevincik were taken to Siverek State Hospital for treatment after receiving first aid at the scene.
4 SUSPECTS DETAINED
As a result of their work based on the descriptions given by the victims, gendarmerie teams caught and detained 4 suspects. It was learned that in their statements to the gendarmerie, the suspects said the incident occurred due to a misunderstanding.
THE ATTACK ON CAMERA
The victim family, on the other hand, stated that they had no feud with anyone, that they thought the incident was about yielding the right of way, but that the suspects attacked them by mistaking them for other people. After their procedures at the gendarmerie were completed, the 4 suspects were referred to the courthouse.
