4 million 237 thousand people will have their old-style driver's licenses invalidated if they do not renew them by July 31. As of August 1, the fee for renewing a driver's license will be 7,438 lira, so it is recommended that citizens apply in a timely manner.

The period granted for replacing old-type driver's licenses with new-type driver's licenses, which started being issued on January 1, 2016, will end on July 31, 2025.

4 MILLION 237 THOUSAND PEOPLE'S LICENSES WILL BE CANCELLED

According to information obtained from the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, a total of 31 million 643 thousand 355 applications for license renewal have been made so far, but 4 million 237 thousand people are still using the old driver's license. If individuals using the old-type driver's license do not complete the renewal process by August 1, their licenses will be considered invalid.

RENEWAL FEE WILL BE 7 THOUSAND 438 LIRA

Additionally, while only 15 lira needs to be paid for the renewal of old driver's licenses until July 31, 2025, this fee will increase to 7 thousand 438 lira for class B driver's licenses as of August 1.

This means that if the license is renewed within 3 months, there will be no need to make an additional payment of 7 thousand 423 lira for this process.

In this context, it is recommended that citizens apply to the nearest population offices as soon as possible to renew their licenses and benefit from the discount without being affected by the crowd that will occur in July.

HOW TO APPLY?

Those who want to renew their driver's license can make an appointment through the Alo 199 Call Center, mobile application, or "nvi.gov.tr", complete the necessary documents, and apply to the population offices.

Those wishing to renew their licenses must present their old driver's licenses, pay the 15 lira application fee, submit a driver's health report obtained from authorized health institutions, provide a biometric photo taken within the last 6 months, and inform their registered address in the Central Population Administration System (MERNIS).

The new driver's licenses of the applicants are printed by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs and delivered to their addresses via PTT.

During this process, a temporary driver's license obtained from population offices or e-Government can be used to drive a vehicle.
