DSP Chairman Önder Aksakal made notable assessments regarding the recent political contacts between the Özgür Özel administration of the CHP and the DSP. Stating that his party is not a subsidiary of the CHP, Aksakal said, 'The DSP has never been a washing machine where dirty politicians are cleansed. With its 41-year clean history, the DSP is Turkey's most honest, patriotic, nationalist, and populist political party, living up to the name of Bülent Ecevit, and it will continue to remain so.'

Democratic Left Party (DSP) Chairman Önder Aksakal made significant evaluations regarding both Turkey's foreign policy agenda and the CHP-DSP relations recently discussed in political circles, during his speech at the party's Provincial Congress held in Bursa.

Stating that the world is going through a reshaping process, Aksakal said that the conflicts in the near geography and the instability in the Middle East seriously affect the region. Expressing that national interests are at the core of DSP's foreign policy understanding, Aksakal noted that Turkey's independent foreign policy capacity should be strengthened.

"DSP IS NOT A SUBSIDIARY ORGANIZATION OF CHP"

Aksakal, who devoted a significant part of his speech to discussions about CHP, emphasized that DSP's political identity is independent. "There may be historical common values between DSP and CHP, but DSP is not a subsidiary organization of CHP," said Aksakal, reminding that CHP was not present in the political arena during the establishment period of their party.

Stating that they closely follow developments in CHP, Aksakal argued that the crises within the party have important consequences for Turkish politics. Expressing respect for CHP voters, Aksakal recalled past merger calls directed at his party and said that DSP never wanted CHP to dissolve or join them.

"OUR PARTY HAS NEVER BEEN A WASHING MACHINE FOR DIRTY POLITICIANS"

DSP Chairman Aksakal drew attention to the crisis in CHP and continued as follows: "Mr. Özgür Özel, who resigned from his post, and our valuable deputy friends with him, are seeking a way out. They themselves see that there is no longer an opportunity to engage in politics in CHP. This is the natural course of events. There is nothing wrong with it; we all see what is happening. While they were in search of 'How can we follow a path in this framework? How can we keep our party or ourselves on the political stage in the upcoming elections?', DSP, which they once tried to destroy by saying 'close it down' or 'come over', came to their minds first, and they applied to us. 'Let us collectively transfer to DSP, form a large group in parliament. Will you give us the management at DSP's congress?' Sorry, but DSP has never been a washing machine for dirty politicians to clean themselves. With its 41-year clean history, DSP is Turkey's most honest, patriotic, nationalist, populist political party, worthy of Bülent Ecevit's name, and it will continue to be so."

The congress was attended by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Şahin Biba, AK Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan, DSP Bursa Provincial Chairman Mehmet Seskır, and party members.
