In recent weeks, the effects of the frost disaster that affected 36 provinces have been reflected in the prices. Adem Karagüllü, a vendor selling lemons in the Kadirli district of Osmaniye, stated, "The bed lemon is currently 60 lira. It is expensive because of the frost; if the frost hadn't affected it, the lemon would be 10 lira now." Another seller added, "The price of lemons will increase even more because the cold hit all of them, the frost hit. There is not much in the market, very little is available. Last year, the price was low; now it has increased and will continue to rise." Due to the frost event affecting 36 provinces, citrus products have also been negatively impacted. Lemons that could not be sold for 1 lira on the tree in previous years are now being sold for 60 lira at the market.

"IT'S EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF THE FROST"

Adem Karacüllü, a vendor selling lemons at the Kadirli district market in Osmaniye, expressed that lemon prices have increased, saying: "The bed lemon is currently 60 lira. It is expensive because of the frost; if the frost hadn't affected it, the lemon would already be 10 lira now. Last year, since there was no frost, it was between 15-20 lira at this time. Now it is 50 lira, 60 lira. 50 lira for tree lemons, 60 lira for bed lemons. It will increase even more when the tree lemons are finished because only bed lemons will remain. It will increase when only bed lemons are left. The public knows that the frost has hit. Everything is expensive because the frost affected it. Previously, it was 1 lira in the garden, 50 kuruş. There was no one buying anyway. Now, since the frost hit, there are no lemons left; when there are no lemons left, we couldn't sell at the market either. We used to bring them and distribute the lemons casually, but now since there are no lemons left in the market, the bed lemon is 60 lira now.

"THE PRICE OF LEMONS WILL INCREASE EVEN MORE"

Another lemon seller stated, "The cold hit the lemons. What is available is not worth anything. Nothing is worth anything. The farmer is suffering; fertilizer, diesel, everything is expensive. That's why nothing is worth anything. The price of lemons will increase even more because the cold hit all of them, the frost hit. There is not much in the market, very little is available. Last year, the price was low; now it has increased and will continue to rise. There are no lemons in the region; we are bringing them from Karataş. There is nothing left around here," he said. A retired citizen remarked, "I saw lemons being sold for 60 lira per kilo in the market. Last year, it was 35-40 lira; now it has risen to 60 lira. The cold hit, the frost hit."
