The attitude of host Ecem Dinçkal, who did not say "May God have mercy on him" to actor Hakan Çelebi while he was talking about his father's death on the program he appeared on, drew a strong reaction. Breaking her silence on the issue, Dinçkal stated that she waited in order not to interrupt the guest and that she conveyed her condolences as the conversation continued, and said, "I will take the necessary legal action through my lawyer regarding the posts that insult me and violate my personal rights."
In the Underground series, one of NOW TV's ambitious productions, 27-year-old actor Hakan Çelebi, who plays the character "Pasha," had an interesting dialogue with host Ecem Dinçkal while talking about his father's death on a YouTube program he appeared on.
"I EXPECTED 'MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON HIM' FROM YOU"
After recounting his father's death during the program, Hakan Çelebi paused briefly; when no response came from the host, he complained and said: "Okay, you may be a secular program, but things like this should happen too, you know. I'm joking, by the way. I mean, normally when you say something like this, you expect it; the other person expects it from you. When you get nothing like that from the other person... The other person says 'May God have mercy on him' to the one who says this."
"I WILL INITIATE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS"
After the footage went viral, host Ecem Dinçkal received intense backlash on social media for not saying "May God have mercy on him." Dinçkal, who made a statement following the developments, stated that her aim was not to interrupt her guest and said: "At that moment, I was waiting for my guest to complete his story without interrupting him. He turned that silence into a joke and we laughed together. Later in our conversation, I also conveyed my condolences to him. I lost my father too. Therefore, I am among those who know very well what a person's loss means. You cannot measure how familiar a person is with pain by how loudly they speak about that pain. If I was misunderstood regarding this issue and if there is anyone among you whom I unintentionally hurt, I apologize. However, I will apply through my lawyer for the necessary legal action regarding posts targeting me and violating my personal rights."
