It was reported that in a clash between the police and local militias from the Naparama tribe in the Nampula province in northern Mozambique, 8 people, including 1 police officer, lost their lives. Nampula province Government Spokesperson Placido Pereira stated in a press release to journalists that an armed conflict broke out between the police and members of the local Naparama tribe, a militia group called "Naparamas," in the Mogovolas region.
1 OF THE DECEASED IS A POLICE OFFICER
Pereira stated that 8 people, including 1 police officer, lost their lives in the clash, and 5 local militiamen were detained. Police Spokesperson Rosa Chauque, in her statement, expressed that the clash occurred when militiamen belonging to the Naparamas group attempted to enter a building protected by the police. Chauque emphasized that the police would not tolerate any situation threatening public order and stated that they would continue to act decisively against attacks on public order and security.
