Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) President Ekrem İmamoğlu will be tried in three cases today. The first hearing of the case opened due to his remarks against Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek will take place today in Silivri. Additionally, the trial related to the tender during his tenure as the Mayor of Beylikdüzü and the case regarding the alleged "money counting" footage recorded at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency will also be held today.

The Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested and sent to Silivri Prison as part of a corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, will appear before the judge today in three cases.

Today, Ekrem İmamoğlu will be tried for his remarks against Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek in Silivri, facing charges of "targeting individuals involved in combating threats and terrorism." In this case, it is requested that İmamoğlu be sentenced to up to 7 years and 4 months in prison, be deprived of his right to vote and be elected, and be banned from public office.

"INTERFERENCE IN TENDER"

Additionally, as a result of an investigation initiated by the Ministry of Interior in 2023, a case was opened against İmamoğlu on charges of "interference in a tender." This tender case, related to the period when İmamoğlu was the Mayor of Beylikdüzü, will also be heard today. In the ongoing case at the 10th Criminal Court of First Instance in Büyükçekmece, it is requested that İmamoğlu be sentenced to between 3 to 7 years in prison and be subjected to a political ban.

WILL APPEAR BEFORE THE JUDGE FOR "MONEY COUNTING" FOOTAGE

Another case to be heard today concerns the "money counting" footage allegedly recorded at the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency. As a result of the footage that emerged ahead of the March 31 local elections, 22 individuals, including İmamoğlu's team members, are being tried on charges of "collecting donations in violation of the law."
