Volkan Demir, who stepped down from his position as Deputy Chairman of the CHP, has been appointed to the position of Acting Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), which became vacant following the resignation of Can Akın Çağlar, who was detained and later released as part of a corruption investigation targeting the IBB.
The Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has been appointed as Volkan Demir, who resigned from his position as Deputy Chairman of the CHP. In the announcement made by the IMM Human Resources Branch, it was stated, "Mr. Prof. Dr. Volkan Demir has been appointed as the Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. We wish him success in his new role."
WHO IS VOLKAN DEMİR?
In the announcement, it was mentioned that Volkan Demir graduated from the Department of Economics at Marmara University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 1997, and later completed his master's and doctoral studies at the same university. It was noted that Demir has worked in data applications, free zones, tax accounting, capital markets, stock exchange, international accounting, and reporting in his professional life.
CAN AKIN ÇAĞLAR RESIGNED
IMM Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar had resigned from his position after being detained and released as part of a corruption investigation against the IMM. Volkan Demir was not nominated for membership in the Central Executive Board (MYK) because he would be appointed to the position of Secretary General of the IMM at the CHP's 21st Extraordinary Congress on April 6, and he had left his position as Deputy Chairman.
