It has been reported that Ford, an automotive manufacturer based in the United States, will lay off 1,000 employees at its factory in Cologne, Germany, due to weak demand for electric vehicles.
In a company statement reported by the German media, it was stated that due to weak demand for electric vehicles, the company will continue to tighten the savings program that was initiated last year.
PRODUCTION IS REDUCING TO A SINGLE SHIFT
In this context, it was mentioned in the statement that a decision has been made to lay off a thousand people at the Cologne factory, and it was noted that at the beginning of 2026, the system will transition from a two-shift system to a single-shift system.
Ford announced a savings program at the beginning of last year, which led to the first strike in the history of the Cologne factory.
