The Mayor of Bayrampaşa, Hasan Mutlu, who was detained as part of a corruption investigation, gave a statement regarding the allegations against him. When asked about three women he is alleged to have had a romantic relationship with, Mayor Mutlu dismissed the question by saying, "I know them." He stated that the money transferred to these women's accounts was for "consulting fees."

While the investigation into the Bayrampaşa Municipality continues, statements given to the police by Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu have been obtained. It has been revealed that the investigation was initiated after a bribe was requested from an earthquake victim.

In the investigation involving Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu, five of his assistants, and five municipal council members, the 46 individuals who were detained have completed their statements at the police station and were referred to the courthouse.

According to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in the investigation regarding allegations of "embezzlement," "extortion," "giving bribes," "receiving bribes," and "manipulating tenders" against the Bayrampaşa Municipality, statements given to the police by Mayor Hasan Mutlu have been obtained.

QUESTIONS ABOUT MONEY TRANSFERS TO 3 WOMEN, ONE OF WHOM IS MARRIED

In his statement at the police station, Mayor Hasan Mutlu, who brushed off the question about three women, one of whom is married and allegedly had a romantic relationship with him, by saying "I know her," reportedly answered that the amounts transferred to these women were 'consultancy' fees. It was also revealed in the investigations that Mutlu employed one of the women he had a romantic relationship with and provided financial support to another.

Regarding the allegations of corruption in tenders, it was reported that Mutlu responded, "I am not a commission member, I don't know."

ALLEGATION OF "BRIBE" FROM AN EARTHQUAKE VICTIM

It has been learned that the investigation began upon the complaint of an earthquake victim whose house was destroyed in the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, which affected 11 provinces and was described as the "disaster of the century," and who relocated to Istanbul. It is alleged that after the earthquake destroyed his house, the earthquake victim A.O., who migrated from Hatay to Istanbul and opened a café with the approval of Mayor Hasan Mutlu, was asked for a bribe of 2.5 million lira. The complainant, the café operator, stated in his testimony as an earthquake victim, "I am from Hatay, I lived in Bayrampaşa for many years and went to Hatay. When my house was destroyed there, I asked the mayor for permission to open a café, saying that I wanted to return due to the earthquake. I received approval, and I was directed to the deputy mayor for the legal process. They initially said it would be tendered to a firm and then delivered. I incurred approximately 2.5 million TL in expenses. They made promises in this regard. However, during the elapsed time, I was constantly delayed, and they asked me for 3 million TL and a 25% partnership. When I refused, the café was sealed. I made this investment trusting the promises and commitments made," it was reported.

HE HAS REGISTERED THE NAME RIGHTS OF CAFES IN HIS NAME

It has been claimed that Hasan Mutlu, at the center of the corruption allegations, registered the name rights of some café-style businesses belonging to the municipality in his own name. Following the deepening of the investigation by the police teams, it was determined that the name rights of the municipal business "Mis Cafe" also belonged to Hasan Mutlu.
