In the United States, Elon Musk's weekly job report request directed at government employees was ignored by many federal agencies. It was reported that the FBI and the State Department instructed their employees not to comply with this request.

It has been reported that important institutions in the United States, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of State, are not considering responding to the weekly work report request from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

It was stated that many federal agencies under President Donald Trump's administration would not comply with the request from DOGE director Elon Musk, who indicated that federal government employees would be considered to have resigned if they did not report their "weekly work" by Monday.

INSTRUCTION FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE AND FBI

It was noted that the new FBI Director Kash Patel, who officially began his term following the vote in the U.S. Senate on February 20, instructed his employees to "at least for now ignore" Musk's request. In an email sent to agency employees by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Tibor Nagy, it was stated that "No employee is obligated to report their activities to anyone outside the Department's chain of command."

LEGAL BASIS REMAINS UNCERTAIN

U.S. Representative Mike Lawler also evaluated Musk's "coercion policy" towards federal agencies, stating, "I don't know how this could be possible. Clearly, many federal employees are under union contracts."

The uncertainty remains regarding what legal basis the Trump administration has to lay off tens of thousands of employees if they do not comply with Musk's latest request.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On February 23, an email was sent by Musk's team to hundreds of thousands of federal employees, asking them to detail their work from the previous week in five points. Later, Musk shared on the X platform regarding the issue, stating that any employee who did not respond by the specified deadline would "lose their job."
