Emine Erdoğan presented Queen Mathilde with a brooch crafted using needle lace and wrapping techniques.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's wife, Emine Erdogan, met with Queen Mathilde of Belgium at Dolmabahce Palace during her visit to Turkey as part of an "Economic Mission."
Emine Erdogan welcomed Queen Mathilde at the entrance of the Muayede Hall. The two embraced and greeted each other, chatted for a while, and then posed for a photo in front of the palace's crystal staircase.
THEY VISITED THE "CENTURY-OLD ELEGANCE" EXHIBITION
Emine Erdogan and Queen Mathilde later visited the "Century-Old Elegance" exhibition prepared by the Olgunlasma Institute. The exhibition, which aims to carry Turkish cultural heritage from the past to the future, showcased modern interpretations of traditional arts. The duo examined works created on weaving looms and received information from officials.
HANDMADE BROOCH PRESENTED
During the visit, Emine Erdogan presented Queen Mathilde of Belgium with a special brooch prepared by instructors at the Olgunlasma Institute. The brooch, made in a week using needle lace and wrapping techniques, featured honeysuckle, chrysanthemum, and tulip motifs.
CLOSE INTEREST IN THE "ANATOLIA" COLLECTION
Emine Erdogan and Queen Mathilde also examined garments from the "Anatolia" collection by fashion designer Ozgur Masur. The 100-piece collection, prepared as a result of three years of research conducted at women's institutes in Anatolia, reinterpreted traditional production techniques and fabrics with modern designs.
