The statement made by journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who was arrested as part of a drug investigation, during his defense in court, describing it as "a very clear political operation," angered AK Party member Şamil Tayyar. Tayyar said, "It seems very strange that a mind that does not conduct a political inquiry while soaring to the top would label a prostitution and drug operation as a 'political ploy.' He thought he was untouchable thanks to his influential friends, and he never expected to fall so hard from the top of the relationships he recklessly trampled on; now he is in shock."
Former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested on charges of "facilitating drug use" and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime."
"THIS IS CLEARLY A POLITICAL OPERATION"
In his defense before the judge, Ersoy stated, "I have no corruption, my friends are known. At this point, certain individuals have incited others against me to make false accusations, I do not know who they are, but when I find out, we will file a complaint against them. I lost my bad feeling from yesterday, I feel better now. This is clearly a political operation, my friends were involved. He made these statements without any evidence, based solely on the testimony of a secret witness."
